I have to say I'm happy with the outcome, there is more colour change than I thought there would be. The damask has some spots of unchanged colour, I have no idea why, they occur in the middle of the whole cloth, so theoretically should be all the same. Anyway, it was certainly a very interesting and fun thing to do.
I do have two more wraps, they are on metal items I have in the garden, one on rusty iron and one on a copper pipe. They will stay for some months yet. I can see no colour change on them at all.
Thanks Kaite for the invitation..

Your cloths have survived the elements, including a cyclone to bring forth wonderful results Annette. What I like so much is that they seem to cover almost the entire cloth with delicate designs; remind me of old vintage fabric. I especially like that you got subtle color but also interesting designs, even from the strings used to wrap the cloths to your trees. Any idea what you will do with these special cloths? As for your other cloths on metal, have you tried sprinkling them with a little vinegar. Vinegar really helps to bring out rust.
Annette, I should add that when you splash cloth with vinegar and put it on copper, you make verdigris, that greenish blue color.
the pale spots look like drops of something, and if so they may have acted as a resist.
i second Marti's comment about vinegar, it works like magick.
good markings on your wraps, i can see the history of the trees on them, good for you sticking with it - even thru the cyclone. k.
Your not the only late one! :) These look great.
Thanks girls, I have folded my wraps (dirt and all) and put them away in the dark for now.
I did notice marks on the trees where the wraps had been, lines of cleaner bark, was interesting to see.
Thanks for the tip about the vinegar, am sort of hoping for nature to do something!! Not holding my breath though!!
hugs
Annette
Love how these turned out. I realize as I am outside creating again in the good weather how much excitement there is in seeing results. These are the most exciting. Can't wait to see what you do with these. :)
