Sue McB - January updates from Central Victoria

Happy New Year Everyone, may 2011 be a good one for you.

Just taken these shots of my tree, and the fabric which is wrapped on a redgum log. Both are now very dry and stiff, but I decided to see what was happening to the log fabric as the staining on the outside seems to have vanished. Inside the wrapping I found an ant's nest, lots of wood dust, and the log beginning to fall apart....not a lot of colour though. Wrapped the whole thing up again, and will once more leave until the finish. The tree wrap cloth is still well coloured, and I was pleased to see a more specific staining from liquid on one side.

it's strange how it comes and goes and then comes back again. we'd never have known that if we'd just wrapped and come back 6 months later. k.

Did the ants to any cloth chewing?

No the ants do not seem to have done anything to the cloth...there was lots of fine wood dust, you can see it in the photo, so I think they were responsible for that!

no the ants didn't chew my cloth either, they used it as a marquee...k.

The ants here use the wraps as roads.. rather unimagitive these ants!! I'm sure they'd all rather be inside with their mates!
