Tammy in Carolina - Snowy Silence

Well thought I would post some images of my wrapped trees. I have enjoyed seeing how many markings have showed up on others tree wraps. I find that mine are really reacting very very slowly. I know that Kaite has mentioned that the intent is to unwrap in Feb. But I'm thinking I will leave mine on longer so that I can be sure to have some kind of marking. In the meantime .. i am still enjoying the whole fiber/wrapping/dyeing influence on the work that I'm creating now. Everyone is very supportive even when my work turns more toward painting. Alot of it still includes walnut inks and fabrics ... weavings and other such things. So thanks for letting me join in with all of you .. very accomplished and talented women. I am moving forward with 2011 in hopes of good things for this year... :)

The very bottom photo of trees with a fence in front of it .. actually has another tree that I wrapped late in the summer .. you can't really see it because it blends in with the snow. I will try to take other photos of that one.

Well even if you're not getting any marks on your cloth we're benefitting from the photos of the beautiful snow. Lovely photos Tammy, kaite

Hiya Tammy, thankyou for the kind comments re our talents. Some days I have grave concerns re my 'talents'. Suspect I am not alone in this I also suspect it's a bit of an after festive thing.

I love the photos of the snow at your place, wow. I cannot imagine how cold it must be, but how beautiful too. Is it very quiet?
hugs

Kaite thanks .. yes the snow is quite beautiful and Annette it is really very quiet but I do hear the birds trying to find something to eat. Here in South Carolina the snow typically lasts only a day or two but this time we've had snow on the ground still after seven days. Alot has melted but there still is a lot left. I just wish it was all over and that spring was here ....

So pretty...Sounds like your snow is a lot like ours...usually just a day or two, occasionally longer. My wraps are slow too...

There is a deep beauty in your white wraps against the backdrop of sky and tree Tammy. A crystalline quality and maybe, we are meant to dream about the cloth for a while as the markings hibernate. Here in southeastern TN, after a week, snow is still on the ground, a record 9 inches but slowly it is beginning to melt and my wrapped rocks and logs that were on the ground around the base of the wrapped crab apple tree are finally uncovered.

I just found this website and would like to know if you only wsrap the cloth to the tree without any liquids? and how long do you leave the cloth there? i live in the Northwest

Herm, thanks for your interest. We are coming to the end of our 6 month wrappng trial here, we started in August last year.

If you'd like to go back and read my first post you can see what i suggested that we do with the cloths, the first rule of course is to do no harm to the tree or object that you wrap.
