actually it's the Eucalyptus leucoxylon (red flowering gum) in my backyard with a borer hole or two under the wrapping cloth.
I still can't possibly cross the paddock to see what's happening to the other 3 trees, the thistles are shoulder high and very dense. I don't understand at all how the poor cows fare walking thru all that dense prickly scrub.
The rocks i wrapped did absolutely nothing so i removed the wraps a little while ago. I didn't want to hinder the growth of any lichens or fungi that might have wanted to use the rocks as a home.
that's it for me now until at least the end of February, cheerio.....kaite

Looks like your flowering red gum got into a battle with "Ned Kelly" and was wounded. I had to look up Ned Kelly since I had never heard of him. Regardless of this bandit, he did have some Irish blood so I would hold onto the green moldy markings as a remembrance...HA!
Hi Kaite, even tho the top one looks like a wound it will be fantastic as a working cloth, stitched and or added to. The silk is interesting, do you think it will hold together afterwards or be rather easily torn.
My wraps are hanging in there, the next few days will certainly test their ability to hang onto the trees! Tropical Cyclone Yasi is being a menace off our coast at the moment. I did wrap some more string around the mango tree wrap the other day, just in case. What great stories these wraps will be able to tell!! Hope they are able to hang on.
hugs Annette..
hi Annette, i'd be more worried about the mango tree itself being able to hang on with Yasi bearing down on you. that's really worrying, you may have missed the floods but the Universe had another plan for you, yikes! hold on there. k.
That top one, yes it's a bit gruesome. :)
well, it has color and thats what we wanted, no
